Add a plant

Give the plant a name and how many days pass between waterings. A photo URL and notes are optional and may be left blank.

A whole number of days greater than zero — for example 3 for a fern or 21 for a cactus.

A link to a photo of the plant, starting with http:// or https://. Leave blank for no photo — nothing is requested from the network.

Anything worth remembering about this plant. Saved in this browser with the plant.

No plants yet

Plants you add are kept in this browser and appear here with their watering interval, last watered date (or “Never watered”), next due date and a quick way to mark them watered.

Getting started

  • Add a plant with a name and its watering interval in whole days greater than zero — for example 3 for a fern or 21 for a cactus.
  • A photo URL and notes are optional. Both may be left blank and are saved with the plant in this browser: a non-empty photo URL must start with http:// or https://, and a blank photo URL means no image is requested at all.
  • Watering interval — how many days pass between waterings, shown as e.g. “Every 7 days”.
  • Last watered — the date of the most recent watering, or “Never watered” when there is none yet.
  • Next due — the date the next watering becomes due. A plant that has never been watered is due immediately, so it starts in the “Due today” section.
  • Overdue by N days — shown once a due date has passed; overdue plants stay in the “Due today” section until you water them and are marked in a different colour from plants due exactly today.
  • Use “Mark watered” on any plant — here or on its detail page — to record a watering event stamped with the current time.
  • Skip today defers a due plant to tomorrow without recording a watering: it leaves “Due today”, waits in “Up to date” marked “Skipped today”, and is due again on the following day unless you water it. Its last watered date and history stay unchanged.
  • Everything is saved in this browser, so your plants and watering history survive a page reload.

Plant detail pages

  • Open a plant from either list to see its name, watering interval, last watered date and next due date, with a Mark watered action that records exactly the same watering event as the home due list.
  • Watering history lists every recorded event newest first, each with a readable local date and time such as “Tue, 4 Mar 2025, 09:14”.
  • A plant that has no waterings recorded yet shows an explicit empty state (“No waterings recorded yet”) instead of a blank area; marking it watered prepends the new entry straight away, with no page reload.
  • Edit plant changes the name, the interval in days and the notes, and Save changes writes them back; changing the interval recalculates the next due date from the most recent watering event.
  • Delete plant asks for confirmation first — Confirm delete or Cancel — and only then removes the plant together with its watering events. Cancelling changes nothing.
  • A link that does not match a plant stored in this browser shows a clear Plant not found message with a Back to dashboard link.

Due today

Watering due today or earlier, including plants that have never been watered. Anything overdue is labelled “Overdue by N days” and stays in this section until it is watered or you choose “Skip today” to defer it to tomorrow.

Nothing due today

Every plant saved in this browser has been watered recently enough. Plants appear here on the day their next watering becomes due.

Up to date

Watered recently enough that the next watering is still ahead, plus plants skipped today — each shown with a “Skipped today” badge and due again tomorrow.

Nothing up to date yet

Plants you water appear here — with their next due date — until the next watering becomes due.
